Complete Muscular System Support Exclusive formula for horses with high performance demands. Muscle Fortifier™ supports: • Rapid Muscle Recovery • Normal Lactic Acid Levels • Proper Ionic Balance and Body Fluid Levels • Proper Muscle Contraction Muscle Fortifier™ targets key performance demands by supporting rapid muscle recovery, proper ionic balance and body fluid levels, and maintaining normal lactic acid levels in the body. Perfect for performance horses who are feeling the strains of intense training and competition. Muscle Fortifier™ supports the overall health and function of the equine muscular system.

Anaerobic Metabolism is used to Maintain Intensive Exercise: When horses perform or exercise intensely, they quickly face a demand for energy that is greater than the amount anaerobic metabolism can provide. Muscle Fortifier™ addresses some of the fundamental needs of anaerobic metabolism to provide targeted support for high-intensity equine athletes.

The Bridge to ATP and Lactic Acid: D-Glycogen is the main energy source for muscle during sustained intensive exercise. It is metabolized to pyruvate, which is then converted to acetyl coenzyme A for entrance into the Krebs cycle. The basic biological energy source, known as ATP, is produced via the Krebs Cycle. If the cell lacks the necessary precursors to form acetyl coenzyme A, pyruvate will then be converted to lactic acid (lactate) . For use as an energy source, lactic acid must then be reconverted or transported to the liver for processing through the Cori cycle. Muscle Fortifier™ helps maintain normal lactic acid levels in the horses system.

Oxygen Transportation: All of the energy available to the horse's body for work comes from a complex chemical reaction called the ATP cycle. This cycle occurs within the mitochondria, small bodies inside the cells often called the "powerhouse of the body." Muscle Fortifier™ helps transport oxygen, which breaks down glycogen ("blood sugar") to fuel the ATP cycle.

Ionic Balance and Body Fluid Levels: Muscles and neurons are activated by an ion exchange of minerals between the extracellular fluid and intracellular fluid. Proper contraction of the muscles requires the presence of minerals, such as calcium (Ca2+), sodium (Na+), and potassium (K+), in sufficient levels. Some minerals, such as sodium and chloride, are in short supply in basic feedstuffs like hay and grain. During training, performance and high ambient temperatures and humidity, horses typically lose large quantities of these ionized minerals through sweat. Horses depend on these minerals to maintain the balance and flow of vital body fluids, the transmission of nerve impulses, and the healthy function of the muscles and circulatory system.

Muscle Fortifier™ provides a balanced, high quality source of five major minerals in a concentrated and highly palatable supplement, for proper ionic balance and body fluid levels. Chromium in Physiological Systems: Insulin promotes glycogen storage in muscles and enhances protein synthesis. Chromium may play a necessary role in the normal physiological system by acting as a co-factor for insulin. Exercise may modify chromium stores, thus the restoration of depleted chromium stores may play a positive role in exercise preparation, performance and recovery.
